Privacy at Wac Fest
This page sets out what information Wacfest Weekends deals with when you read the guide or get in touch, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. We have tried to write it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email us and we will explain.

Who is responsible
Wacfest Weekends is run by the small editorial team described on The Festival Desk. For anything to do with your personal data, the contact address is desk@wacfest.com.
A guide built to collect very little
Every page of the guide is a plain, pre-built file. There are no user accounts, no comment boxes, no newsletter sign-up and no shopping basket. We do not run analytics software, advertising networks, social media plugins or any other tracking tools, and we do not build profiles of readers. Nothing you read here is used to target you with adverts, on this site or elsewhere.
Technical records kept while pages are served
Wacfest Weekends reaches your screen through a hosting company's servers. To send pages to your browser and keep the service secure, the provider's systems briefly record technical details of each request, such as your IP address, the time, the page asked for, the browser type and whether the request succeeded. These logs are used only for operating the service, spotting faults and defending against abuse. They are kept for a short period and then deleted automatically. Nobody at the desk links these records to other data or tries to work out who sent a request. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure and reliable website.
Your cookie choice
On your first page view, a small card in the corner asks how you feel about cookies. Your answer is saved in your browser's local storage, so the card does not reappear on every page. This entry stays on your device, is never sent to us and contains nothing that identifies you. Clearing this website's stored data in your browser settings deletes it whenever you like. More detail is in our cookie note for visitors.
When you email us
An email to the desk gives us your address, any name you sign with and the contents of your note. We use this only to read and answer your message and, if you have pointed out a mistake, to correct the article. We do not add you to any mailing list or pass your details to anyone else. Correspondence is deleted once the matter is settled, unless we need to keep it for a while to follow up on something you raised.
Our contact page offers a short form, but it simply opens a new message in your own email program. Your message only leaves your device once you send it from that program.
Links to other websites
A number of our guides point to outside websites. Clicking through takes you to a site run by someone else, whose own data practices then apply; we cannot influence them.
Your rights
The GDPR gives you a set of rights over your personal data. You can:
- ask the desk to confirm whether any message of yours is still in our inbox, and to send you a copy;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted;
- tell us to pause or stop using what you sent while a question about it is settled;
- request the emails you sent us as files you can hand to another service;
- lodge a complaint with the data protection authority where you live or work.
To use any of these rights, email desk@wacfest.com. Expect an answer from us within a month of your request.
